Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Welding Technician for a 2nd shift, onsite in North Carolina. You will set up and operate GTAW welding equipment, weld various thin-gauge materials, and inspect finished welds to ensure quality.

The role includes training others and interpreting technical documentation. The position requires 1+ year GTAW welding experience, good reading of blueprints, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. GED in the US) or vocational/technical education with 1 year of relevant experience.
• 1+ years GTAW welding experience, 1+ years welding fabrication experience.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set Up and Operate Welding Equipment: position parts in jigs, select tools, and set up welding equipment per drawings and WPS ranges.
• Perform GTAW welding operations on thin-gauge materials like 4130 steel, stainless, aluminum, and titanium.
• Inspect and repair welds according to visual criteria and use inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, borescopes, gauges).
• Follow safety and compliance standards, maintain a clean work area.
• Support and train others, interpret technical docs, and use computer-controlled welding equipment as needed.
