Job summary

Crane Company seeks a welding technician for 2nd shift in Conroe, TX, performing Gas Tungsten Arc Welding on thin-walled 316L stainless tubing and reading dimensional drawings. Training will occur on day shift, with strict adherence to internal procedures and customer designs.

You will set up automated processes, maintain welding units, and train others on automated welding techniques while meeting ASME BPVC and customer specifications.

Qualifications

• ASME Section IX GTAW certification for 316L stainless required or able to certify during interview.
• Experience welding stainless steel GTAW with 316L and 3+ years.
• Ability to read and interpret dimensional drawings.
• Experience with ASME BPVC welding procedures.
• Proficient in preparation of components and fit-up.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and visually inspect components before welding to meet work order specs.
• Assemble fabricated designs per work order and complete tube/weld pipe per procedures.
• Weld fittings and special products in accordance with current ASME BPVC procedures.
• Set up and operate plasma-arc cutting torch as required.
• Maintain welding units, calibrate per procedures, and manage filler wire, gas and pressures.
• Read 2D drawings and use measuring tools (tape, calipers, micrometers).
• Promote OSHA and Crane safety practices.
