Job summary

AEG in Camarillo, CA is seeking an Optician to deliver expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care. You will assist patients in selecting frames, lens types, and treatments while ensuring proper fit and accurate prescriptions.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Minimum of one-year experience working as an Optician strongly preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills to include MC Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor, experience with sales preferred.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Delivers extraordinary experience to each patient and explains customized recommendations.
• Receive patient handoff from technicians or doctors and establish rapport by asking lifestyle questions to identify needs.
• Keeps current on company products and procedures, rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Takes and returns patient calls, updates patients on order status and resolves issues.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lens type, and treatments; consider facial measurements.
• Educate patients on eyewear care, warranty coverage, and replacement options.
• Understand insurance plans including eligibility, copays, and coverage limitations.
• Interprets prescriptions and enters data into the EHR and ALE system.
• Follow-up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
• Dispense glasses, adjust fit, and ensure comfort.
• Proficient with pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, pliers, wrenches.
• Communicate with technicians and managers about orders and status.
• Inspect final product for flaws; clean and polish lenses.
• Maintain clean work area and displays.
• Address questions about products, services, pricing, and promotions.
• Perform other duties as needed by the manager.
