Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant for Renaissance Family Practice in Blawnox. The role involves back office and front office duties with daytime hours, Monday through Friday, and no evenings or weekends. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education, with responsibilities spanning records management, patient care, and routine clinic procedures under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience as Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Front office and back office duties experience is welcomed.
• Ability to collect vitals and perform screenings per provider guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information; schedule appointments; verify insurance and demographics.
• Prepare patient rooms and maintain infection control; manage supplies and inventory.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, and preparing for exams; collect information and vital signs.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs; assist physicians with procedures.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health; maintain confidentiality; adhere to UP​MC Health System policies.
• Administer injectable medication and vaccines under physician supervision.
