Job summary

UPMC Moon Medical Associates in Coraopolis seeks a Medical Assistant to support both back office and front office operations. Daytime hours, no evenings or weekends, with prior MA experience preferred.

Responsibilities include HIPAA-compliant handling of records, patient flow, vitals, phlebotomy and EKGs, and assisting physicians with procedures. Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education.

Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records under HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab/X-ray reports, referrals, and schedule appointments; verify insurance and demographics; prepare and manage charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment; maintain infection control and restock supplies.
• Assist patients with movements and prepare for exams; collect vitals and patient history.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy and EKGs; assist physicians with procedures and document in medical record.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health; maintain confidentiality.
• Under supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
