Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join Shenango Valley Family Medicine in Farrell, PA. Hours are Monday through Friday, daylight hours with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. This role includes back office and front office duties.

Prior Medical Assistant experience is preferred and applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. Responsibilities include handling patient records, scheduling, phlebotomy, EKGs, and maintaining infection

Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
• Experience with HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Front desk and back office duties experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records per HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, referrals, complete forms, schedule appointments.
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain infection control, restock supplies.
• Manage patient flow, assist with walking, vitals, and screenings.
• Answer calls and provide patient education.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA DOH; protect patient confidentiality.
• Administer injectables under physician supervision.
