Job summary

HEMIC in Honolulu seeks an Accountant I to support day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, and internal controls. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or comparable experience) and/or 2+ years in accounting using GAAP required. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 encouraged; ability to meet deadlines and collaborate is essential. Competitive salary and generous benefits.

Responsibilities

• Review daily accounting transactions for accuracy and policy adherence.
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Review and analyze budget variances.
• Suggest process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
• Document/update accounting procedures and standards.
• Support internal teams and external partners with accounting needs.
• Participate in meetings and training; pursue self-development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
