Job summary

Hemic in Honolulu, HI is seeking an Accountant I to manage day-to-day accounting, prepare journal entries, and support financial reporting in line with GAAP.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or 2+ years of GAAP experience, proficiency with Microsoft 365, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

We offer a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $65,000 per year, flexible PTO, and a supportive team focused on professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 2+ years of GAAP accounting experience.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, methods, and procedures.
• Ability to interpret policies and maintain internal controls.
• Strong communication and collaboration with internal/external customers.

Responsibilities

• Review daily accounting transactions for accuracy and adherence to policy.
• Prepare journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
• Analyze budget variances and report findings.
• Suggest process improvements to strengthen internal controls.
• Document/update accounting procedures and standards.
• Support other teams and external partners with accounting needs.
• Participate in meetings and training programs; pursue self-development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
