Job summary

Gusto is seeking an experienced, hands-on people manager to lead a data science and analytics team supporting Growth product initiatives. You will mentor data scientists and work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to deliver insights that inform strategy, optimize user experiences, and accelerate business growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data science or related fields with at least 4 years in managerial roles.
• Deep expertise in product analytics for SaaS or product-led environments.
• Technical fluency with coding, statistics, and experimentation.
• Experience at the intersection of data science and AI product development; model evaluation & deployment trade-offs.
• Strategic and business mindset with ability to influence roadmaps through data.
• Proven experience presenting insights to senior stakeholders and guiding decisions.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams.
• Hands-on ML in product contexts (personalization, churn, segmentation, LLM features).
• Familiarity with multi-product SaaS ecosystems and customer lifecycle analytics desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of data scientists—hire, coach, and drive career growth.
• Shape product and business strategy through data in partnership with cross-functional leaders.
• Develop and scale measurement frameworks; track AI-powered product initiatives.
• Support experimentation and decision-making with inferential analyses and A/B tests.
• Partner on AI-powered product development with ML Engineering and Product teams.
• Dive deep into data analyses; ensure insights are technically sound and business-relevant.
• Influence senior leadership with clear, actionable recommendations.
