OpenAI is seeking an experienced Creative Director to join the Growth creative team in New York. You will lead multi-disciplinary work spanning paid media, social, lifecycle, launches, and emerging opportunities, translating business goals into distinctive, effective work.

The role requires 10+ years of creative leadership, a generalist mindset, and a proven ability to guide agencies while maintaining rapid pace and high quality across global and local audiences.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in creative roles, including leading multidisciplinary work across social, growth and integrated marketing.
• Proven ability to translate business goals into distinctive, effective creative work.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership across channels and formats.

Responsibilities

• Lead creative direction across growth initiatives by establishing a high bar for storytelling, design, writing, relevance and quality across all outputs.
• Translate business objectives, audience insights, and performance learnings into clear creative direction and breakthrough ideas.
• Develop concepts and narratives that can scale globally while remaining relevant to local audiences and cultural contexts.
• Partner closely with Growth Marketing to shape briefs, identify opportunities, and define creative approaches that balance experimentation with brand integrity.
• Steer external agencies by setting direction, providing feedback, and ensuring work meets OpenAI's standards for craft, effectiveness, and originality.
• Help evolve creative processes, frameworks, and systems that enable teams to move faster without compromising quality.
• Identify patterns in testing, audience behavior, and campaign performance to inform future creative decisions and experimentation.
• Collaborate closely with designers, writers, motion teams, producers, and strategists to bring integrated ideas to life.
• Balance long-term thinking with rapid execution, knowing when a project calls for ambitious creative exploration and when it requires pragmatic decision‑making.
