Job summary

Alternative Services – Connecticut, Inc is seeking an Assistant Residential Manager to oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality care for residents in a Connecticut home. You will monitor resident programs, coordinate activities, and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a background in developmental disabilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage documentation and incidents professionally.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years experience with developmentally disabled individuals or dual diagnosis; one year in management; substitutions allowed.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured; travel may be required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• CPR, First Aid, PMT, DDS State Medication Administration certifications desired.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene when needed.

Responsibilities

• Works vacant shifts and shares on-call coverage with Manager.
• Assists Manager in performance appraisals of Residential staff.
• Reviews consumer files for accuracy and data completeness monthly.
• Prepares staff meeting agendas and attends monthly Assistant Residential Manager meetings.
• Develops plans to meet resident needs and implements them.
• Advocates for consumers, modeling respectful care.
• Documents activities and incidents on the prescribed forms; reports to supervisor.
• Distributes medications per schedule and DDS guidelines.
• Provides activities for consumers and supervises group home outings.
• Ensures social environment supports personal growth and safety.
• Supervises transportation to community activities; follows emergency procedures.
• Monitors behavior and implements behavior management programs as needed.
• Provides programmatic and statistical reports; maintains cleanliness and safety.
• Maintains knowledge of agency policies; adheres to licensing and DDS contracts.
• Reports rights violations; participates in investigations as directed.
• Attends trainings and contributes to staff meetings; supports staff development.
• Follows policy, procedures, and program commitments; performs other duties as assigned.
