Job summary

VetJobs in Austin, Texas seeks a Groundman to support building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems under the direction of a Foreman. This is an on-site role supporting our power grid operations.

Candidates must have a High School diploma, a valid driver's license with ability to obtain a CDL, and willingness to travel and work outside normal hours, including emergencies. The position requires rigorous physical labor and outdoor work in all weather.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL required within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Work locations out-of-state and overtime including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction and maintenance of overhead distribution systems with safety as a priority.
• Install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors and related hardware.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and storms.
• Be available for outages, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
