Job summary

Crane is seeking an Operations Supervisor, Ground to lead the Outbound and Inbound Specialist teams and own execution quality across the full ground shipment lifecycle. You will ensure bookings are acted on, shipments are properly owned, and handoffs are seamless between shifts.

You will develop the team through onboarding, competency certification on TMF, Aljex, and related systems, cross-training, and performance coaching.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field preferred.
• 4–6 years of experience in transportation or 3PL operations, including 1–2 years supervising or leading a team.
• Hands-on operating experience in a transportation management system; direct experience with e2open TMF and/or Descartes Aljex strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to hold a team to a defined process and correct drift without harming morale.
• Knowledge of US domestic ground freight modes (FTL, LTL, intermodal) and lifecycle from booking to invoice.
• Strong escalation judgment—what to decide, what to delegate, what to raise.

Responsibilities

• Monitor TMF bookings to ensure every booking is picked up and worked by an Outbound Specialist within the target window.
• Assign ownership for departed shipments in Aljex to Inbound Specialists; ensure no shipment remains unowned.
• Balance workload across the shift and reassign files during spikes or gaps.
• Ensure shift coverage is confirmed before and after each shift.
• Maintain visibility of the board; intervene only when necessary to cover gaps.
• Escalate hot loads to priority handling and communicate openly with stakeholders.
• Route escalations to appropriate owners (Capacity Manager, Operational Account Coordinator, Program Manager).
• Escalate security concerns to GSOC and management immediately.
