Job summary

Pet Supplies Plus in Mount Vernon, IL is seeking a motivated Groom Tech/Bather student to join our team. You will learn grooming basics, bathe and style dogs, and assist with grooming duties while training through Paragon School of Pet Grooming.

Strong emphasis on customer service, flexibility for evenings/weekends, and the ability to handle pets safely. Training and a tool kit are included as you progress toward becoming a groomer.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or other industry working with pets (not required).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Able to move or lift up to 50 pounds and stand/bend for extended periods.
• Willingness to learn grooming and pet care routines.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Completion of drug screening and selection tests as required.
• Training through Paragon School of Pet Grooming may be offered.

Responsibilities

• Delight neighbors and pets with grooming services (brushing, bathing, trimming nails).
• Learn and demonstrate skills to become a groomer through the online distance program.
• Ensure wellness and safety of furry patrons at all times.
• Develop long-term relationships by recommending products and services for pet health and happiness.
• Perform routine cleaning to keep the grooming area inviting.
• Complete Safety Training certification.
• Assist store team during grooming downtime.
