Job summary

Meijer, a longtime family retailer, seeks a store leader to direct daily operations across departments and mentor team members. You will recruit staff, develop talent, and uphold company standards while delivering exceptional service and sales results.

Responsibilities include staffing decisions, discipline when needed, safeguarding assets, and ensuring training completion. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and hands-on presence in the store to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clear direction to team.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial data and teach suggestive selling.
• Leadership in a safety-focused environment.
• Mentor team members including hourly staff and SDITs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily store operations and maintain standards.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Promote career paths and development for team members.
• Document disciplinary actions and recommend discharge when needed.
• Oversee P&L, sales targets and shrink control.
• Model fast, friendly customer service behavior.
• Communicate Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings.
• Mentor and coach staff to exceed service and sales goals.
• Ensure comprehensive training for all roles.
• Spend most time in-store engaging with customers and team.
• Promote a safe and reliable work environment.
• Maintain consistent attendance and reliability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
