Job summary

Meijer is seeking a store leadership professional to plan, direct, and mentor team members across departments while driving customer service and sales. You will oversee staffing, coaching, and performance to meet store goals and ensure a safe, well-presented shopping environment.

The role requires at least 1 year of management experience, strong communication, and the ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information and use it to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations across departments.
• Mentor and coach team members to improve customer service and sales.
• Implement strategies to enhance customer service and store performance.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development for team members, including promotions decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and, if needed, discharge recommendations.
• Be responsible for P&L, achieving sales and reducing shrink in the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure thorough training of all team members and required trainings are completed.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and staff to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
