Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Store Team Leader to plan, direct, and supervise the day-to-day operations across multiple departments.

You will mentor and coach team members, drive customer service, and ensure sales growth while maintaining store standards. The role includes staffing oversight, development of career paths for staff, and involvement in promotion decisions as part of a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in daily operations across store departments.
• Mentor and coach team members; implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and development needs; participate in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and advise on discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and uphold Meijer standards.
• Ensure team is trained in all aspects of their jobs and completed required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
