Job summary

Kroger is seeking an Assistant Department Manager for the Grocery Department in Goodyear, AZ. You will assist in planning, organizing, staffing and directing associates while ensuring customer service excellence and safe, ethical operations.

You will support budgeting, train staff, manage inventory using CAO, and uphold policies on dress, sanitation and teamwork. This role offers growth opportunities within a large national grocer.

Qualifications

• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Grocery retail work experience and/or backup manager experience.
• Understanding of department operations (managing people, merchandising, inventory, scheduling, etc.).
• Knowledge of employment laws and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, staffing needs and training associates to ensure prompt courteous service.
• Respond to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests and questions professionally.
• Use CAO to manage ordering quantities and balance on hand when manager is absent.
• Perform and direct pricing and display of merchandise with proper signage and rotation.
• Engage associates in merchandising techniques, customer service and promotions.
• Ensure compliance with company policies on dress, grooming, sanitation and harassment prevention.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with associates and customers to project a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment and facilities safely and in good condition.
• Maintain floor and grocery areas clean and sanitary.
