Job summary

Kroger is seeking an assistant to the Department Manager for the Grocery Dept. You will help plan, organize, staff, train and direct associates while performing production and customer service tasks.

You will maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically in line with company policies and core values. You will lead by example in merchandising, scheduling, and customer service, ensuring proper signage, inventory control, and adherence to procedures.

• Familiar with employment laws and OSHA compliance.
• Able to operate power tools and equipment used in department operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Department Manager in organizing work and staffing the department; train and schedule associates for prompt service.
• Respond to customer and associate inquiries; remain tactful, calm and professional.
• Use CAO to manage ordering of merchandise and track receipts and on-hand inventory.
• Price and display merchandise; ensure signage, rotation, freshness, and space use.
• Coach staff in merchandising, customer service and promotional activities.
• Ensure adherence to company programs, policies and dress/sanitation standards.
• Provide input on department budgets, goals and results.
• Communicate with customers and associates to create a positive impression.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and cleanliness to policy standards.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements with staff.
