Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a dedicated team leader to direct operations, coach staff, and uphold exceptional customer service in our Michigan store.

You will mentor peers, manage daily tasks, ensure product freshness, safety compliance, and engage with leadership to optimize scheduling, sales, and store profitability while fostering an inclusive environment. This role requires strong communication, adaptability, and commitment to Meijer values.

Qualifications

• Passion for customer service and engagement with customers and team members.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Retail or customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage peers to provide the best possible shopping experience and checkout.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Supports training new team members/cross-training high potential talent, providing peer coaching on responsibilities to boost productivity.
• Work with leadership on department schedules to improve engagement, service and profitability.
• Ensure freshness of products by monitoring rotation and dating policies.
• Guide the team on food safety standards and maintain accountability.
• Lead team in ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and display where applicable.
• Create an environment that supports Meijer culture, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Operate a register and cash handling when needed.
• Operate powered equipment, where applicable.
• Participate in period end inventories to help achieve goals.
• May act in Lead capacity in other departments.
