Job summary

Harris Teeter seeks an individual to assist in managing and supervising up to 25 associates in the Grocery Department, with potential duties in the HBC/GM area. The role supports direction, coordination, and evaluation per company policies and laws.

The candidate will interview and train staff, plan and direct work, and participate in performance reviews while maintaining customer-focused operations and compliance with OSHA and food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 2–3 years related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, memos, and basic English communications.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and teamwork to improve customer satisfaction and sales.
• Supervise up to 25 associates and assist in interviewing and training.
• Proficient with HT Internet software, email, inventory systems, spreadsheets, and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Assist to manage and supervise up to 25 associates in the Grocery Department, with possible responsibility for HBC/GM.
• Coordinate and evaluate department activities in line with Harris Teeter policies and applicable laws.
• Interview and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; assist in performance appraisals.
• Reward and discipline associates; address complaints and resolve problems.
• Ensure accurate use of computer and inventory tools to support operations.
