Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District is hiring an apprentice Sub-Transmission & Distribution System Control Operator to train for critical tasks ensuring safe, reliable operation of the joint sub-transmission (<115 kV) and distribution (<15 kV) systems. You will work with Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and coordinate real-time actions with customers and teams.

The role requires a technical or HS diploma with related electrical experience and offers pathways into a System Control

Qualifications

• Requires a technical school degree in a related electrical field, or a high school diploma/GED plus three years of related electrical experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute switching of sub-transmission and distribution lines and substation equipment.
• Analyze contingency conditions and balance load to ensure safe operations.
• Monitor transmission and distribution equipment and respond to emergencies within established limits.
• Support outage management using SCADA and real-time telemetry to coordinate restoration.
