Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels in Cambridge, MA is seeking a friendly Restaurant Host to warmly greet guests, escort them to tables, and help prepare the dining room for service. You will also answer phones, take reservations, and keep the reservation book up to date.

Maintain guest relations, ensure standards are followed, and support house operations throughout shifts. Base pay ranges from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour with benefits and growth opportunities.

What this role is all about

Courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring hotel's standards of service. Assist in preparing the restaurant for service and maintain the cleanliness of the room at all times. Take reservations and maintain reservation book. Assist in monitoring guest needs and all phases of the operation.

What you'll be doing

• Greet and acknowledge all arriving guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently as specified in departmental standards.
• Take record and confirm restaurant reservations/ cancellations as specified in departmental standards
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congenialities in accordance with department guidelines.
• Maintain complete knowledge of: Scheduled daily activities and in-house groups
• Daily house count
• Hotel extension numbers
• Hours of operation of each outlet, ambiance, menu selections, and price range
• Features and services provided by the hotel
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, specials, and items of the restaurant.
• Prepare station chart and assign stations to staff following departmental procedures.
• Set up a station with necessary supplies; maintain cleanliness at all times. Report shortages to Supervisor.
• Inspect tables and stations, ensuring that all set-ups meet the department standards. Check throughout the meal period. Relay deficiencies to respective personnel and follow up on corrections
• Ensure tables are cleaned and reset according to standards
• Legibly document pertinent information in restaurant logbook
• Take record and relay messages in accordance with standards
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Anticipated Pay Range & Additional Job Information

$20.00 to $22.00 Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills and job specific experience/overall experience.
