Job summary

City of New York seeks a permanent Construction Project Manager to oversee Green Infrastructure projects in NYC. You will assist with construction oversight, inspections, documentation, and coordination with DEP bureaus and partners to ensure conformance with contracts and codes.

Responsibilities include field inspections, progress reporting, meetings with contractors and consultants, and assisting with design service procurement during construction.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and five years of full-time satisfactory experience managing and/or inspecting construction projects with total cost ≥ $300,000 per project.
• One year of experience plus a baccalaureate degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, construction, construction technology, or construction management.
• One year of experience plus a valid professional engineer, architect, or landscape architect license.
• A high school diploma plus two years of experience and the education in (2) to total five years; college credits substituting for experience are possible.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and coordinate field inspections for capital construction contracts for on-site or Right of Way Green Infrastructure.
• Prepare and submit reports to the Section Lead on project schedule and cost updates.
• Attend construction progress meetings with contractors, consultants, and agencies.
• Assist in resolving construction-related issues to maintain budget and schedule.
• Prepare cost estimates and assist in negotiations for outsourced construction management services.
• Coordinate with agency personnel (DOE/SCA) for project input and decisions.
• Perform inspection audits to measure contractor performance during GI construction.
• Enforce compliance with DEP sewer use regulations.
• Coordinate with the Design Engineer on field-related issues.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's degree (engineering/architecture/construction management)

Professional engineer / licensed architect / licensed landscape architect

Combination of education and experience to total five years
