Job summary

University of Miami is seeking a Manager, Sponsored Programs to oversee the administrative and financial aspects of the Sponsored Programs division in Miami. You will work to increase funding levels, maximize use of dollars, and implement effective policies.

The role involves post-award support, grant accounting coordination, and ensuring compliance with university policies. A bachelor’s degree and several years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of business and management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
• Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.

Responsibilities

• Reviews all material budget variances with senior staff and develops corrective action plans.
• Prepares monthly variance reports for programs’ management and development.
• Assists in the preparation of grant reports for senior management.
• Maintains portfolios for private and government grants and funds.
• Develops and maintains grant allocation systems.
• Manages monthly overhead and allocation tables and reallocates grant funds based on period reports.
• Formulates analyses of operating programs by costs vs. services performed in prior years.
• Creates and oversees budget, and recommends modifications when appropriate.
• Approves all disbursement requests for accuracy in coding and fund availability.
• Establishes and assesses internal controls and ensures policy compliance; trains employees on controls.
