Job summary

County of Lapeer in Michigan seeks an experienced accountant to support the Chief Financial Officer by developing and improving the county’s accounting system, and by providing financial information to county departments.

You will oversee accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and reports, assist with annual audits, grant administration, budgeting, and the preparation of financial statements and the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
• 2–3 years of government accounting experience with budgeting and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounts receivable/payable and balance to general ledger.
• Prepare payroll reports and payroll tax deposits.
• Assist in annual audits and grant reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and CAFR preparation.
• Prepare reports for state/federal grant programs.
• Train and supervise staff as needed.
