Job summary

Worcester County Government is seeking a Grants and Contract Accountant in Snow Hill, MD. The role administers grants procurement and compliance, analyzes financial data, and assists with audits. Reports to the Budget Officer and works in-office Monday through Friday.

Required: associate degree in accounting and 5 years of related experience; preferred: bachelor’s degree with 2–5 years of gov accounting. Pre-employment checks apply and safety protocols are in effect.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in accounting plus 5 years related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field plus 2–5 years of progressively responsible accounting and fiscal experience, preferably in gov accounting.
  • Knowledge of grants and related compliance.
  • Experience with SAM.gov and federal/state grant reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee grant procurement, financial reports and compliance for county grants.
  • Present grant applications and status to County Commissioners; track budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure grant compliance and prepare required monthly, quarterly, and final reports.
  • Support audits, reporting, and compliance reviews for departments and programs.
  • Maintain accounting records and post monthly journal entries to funds.
