Job summary

Paramount Schools of Excellence in Indianapolis is seeking an Accountant I to support the finance team with accounts payable vouchers, deposits, and grant-related tasks. The role emphasizes accuracy and timely processing within a nonprofit education context.

The successful candidate will assist with credit card transactions, prepare work papers for audits, and collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and reporting to school principals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or an associate’s degree with two years accounting experience.
• Experience with school and/or nonprofit grants management is required.
• Ability to interpret complex grant funding requirements and budgets.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of basic accounting, accounts receivable, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review incoming invoices and deposits for accuracy.
• Create payment vouchers and code invoices to appropriate school/department, grant, and general account.
• Prepare the Organization’s credit card expenses and reconcile monthly.
• Collaborate with the Finance team to support grant processes.
• Review accounting data for accuracy and compliance with SBOA; reconciling accounts.
• Prepare work papers for annual financial audits.
• Provide additional clerical and administrative support as needed.
• Participate in budget meetings to provide progress reports to principals.
