Job summary

Paramount Schools of Excellence, Inc. is seeking an Accountant I to support accounts payable and deposits, with emphasis on grant-related finance. You will prepare vouchers, code invoices, and assist with credit card transactions while ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

You will collaborate with the Finance team, ensure SBOA-compliant data, and help prepare work papers for audits. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Experience with school or non-profit grants management.
• Ability to interpret grant funding requirements, submissions, and budget projections.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and accounts receivable.
• Ability to learn industry software.
• Team player with ability to work independently.
• Attention to accuracy and detail.
• Excellent organizational and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Active listening skills and ability to follow-through tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review incoming invoices and deposits for accuracy and completeness.
• Create payment vouchers and code invoices to appropriate school/department, grant, and general account.
• Prepare the Organization’s credit card expenses and reconcile monthly with proper coding.
• Collaborate with Finance team to ensure successful grant processing.
• Review accounting data for SBOA compliance and reconcile accounts to detail.
• Suggest improvements to financial processes to increase quality, speed, and efficiency.
• Participate in monthly budget meetings to provide progress reports to principals.
• Prepare work papers and information supporting the annual financial audit.
• Provide additional clerical support as needed.
