Job summary

Paramount Schools of Excellence seeks an Accountant I who reports to the Controller and supports the finance team with AP vouchers and deposit processing, and assists with credit card transactions. Responsibilities include preparing invoices, coding payments, reconciling grants, assisting with audits, and providing monthly budget input.

Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or an Associate with experience; nonprofit grants

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or Associate’s with minimum two years of accounting experience.
• Prior experience with school and/or nonprofit grants management and finance is required.
• Ability to interpret complex grant funding requirements, submissions, and budget projections.
• Possess good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issues.
• Strong command over written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and accounts receivable.
• Ability to learn industry specific software.
• Ability to work in task-driven environment.
• Exceptional attention to accuracy and detail.
• Excellent organizational and proactive problem-solving skills.
• Active listening skills and with ability to follow-through tasks at hand.
• Must be a team player with the ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review invoices and deposits for accuracy and completeness.
• Create payment vouchers and code invoices to the correct school/department, grant, and general account.
• Prepare the organization’s credit card expenses and reconcile monthly.
• Collaborate with Finance team to support grant processes.
• Reconcile accounts to detail and determine required general ledger entries.
• Suggest improvements to financial processes to raise quality and efficiency.
• Participate in monthly budget meetings to provide progress reports.
• Prepare work papers and information for annual financial audits.
• Provide additional clerical and administrative support as needed.
