Job summary

Houston City College is seeking a Success Coach (Grant-Funded) to support new and returning students through academic planning, course sequencing, and retention efforts. The role works with faculty and staff to aid completion, transfer, and workforce placement.

Responsibilities include coordinating orientations, advising policies, and tracking student progress, with opportunities to report on outcomes and drive improvements across campuses.

Qualifications

• 2 years related experience in teaching, tutoring, advising and other program areas related to teacher education required
• Experience in higher education and student tracking preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement orientation for new students, setting expectations for fieldwork, academics, licensure steps, and support.
• Develop and document advising policies and procedures, providing holistic academic and transitional advising.
• Proactively outreach and coach target students to succeed in coursework and self-directed learning.
• Establish partnerships with campus colleagues to support student enrollment, retention, and completion.
• Document student interactions in college systems in a timely manner.
• May provide reports and analytics regarding student interactions, including attendance and progress.
• Monitor centralized dashboard to track program enrollment and credentialing progress.
• Increase visibility and promotion of tutoring, mentoring, and job coaching services across campuses and modalities.
