Job summary

Houston City College seeks an executive leader to advance student retention and completion initiatives. You will guide data-informed programs, collaborate with faculty and administration, and manage strategic efforts to close opportunity gaps and improve student success.

The role reports to senior college leaders and champions a college-wide plan aligned with the Embracing Houston’s Future vision and equity goals.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field required.
• 8 years combined experience in higher education administration including program development, student learning outcomes, faculty/staff development, data collection and analysis, and formal evaluation and reporting on educational programs.
• Experience in working in a multi-college, complex community college environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership that utilizes innovation in retention initiatives (advising, monitoring, first-year programs, guided pathways, engagement).
• Review data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to enhance student success with focus on equity in retention and completion.
• Provide leadership to Student Retention/Success committees as established by leadership.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan for scaling retention and completion strategies at the College.
• Lead a portfolio of student-centered programs with data-informed interventions and measurable outcomes.
• Foster partnerships with organizations to enhance access to academic, career, and personal development resources.
• Collaborate with instructional leaders to promote learner-centered teaching and quality instructional materials.

Education

Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field

8 years combined experience in higher education administration including program development, student learning outcomes, faculty/staff development, data collection and analysis, and formal evaluation and reporting
