Job summary

The City of Cleveland invites applications for a Budget Analyst to support the Department of Community Development and related citywide programs. You will help prepare and review financial reports, assist in annual budget development, and monitor expenditures across federally, state, and locally funded initiatives.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field, with 2+ years of finance experience, strong Excel skills, and a solid grasp of budgeting practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business/Public Administration or closely related field from a four year accredited college or university required.
• Two years of full-time paid experience in Finance or Accounting preferred; substitution rules apply.
• Must be knowledgeable in computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional budgetary, financial, and grant administration work.
• Assists with budget development, financial monitoring, expenditure tracking, grant compliance, reporting, and fiscal analysis.
• Reviews financial transactions, prepares reports and supporting documentation, monitors revenues and expenditures.
• Provides financial support for contracts, grants, and program activities.
• Works with department staff, City agencies, funding partners, and external auditors to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintains financial records and submits monthly/periodic financial reports.
• Monitors coding of financial documents for requisitions, travel forms, and contracts.
• Processes invoices for payment and reconciles general ledgers with program income receipts.
