Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Allerton, IA is seeking a hands-on grain handling and facility operations teammate. You will assist in implementing work schedules, safety programs and logistics in partnership with the facility manager, and perform various grain handling duties.

Key tasks include weighing and grading inbound and outbound grain, operating loading/unloading equipment, inspecting facilities, coordinating inventories, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety policies while serving

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and comply with safety policies.
• Verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work extended hours during harvest seasons.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade inbound and outbound grain and grain products.
• Operate loading/unloading equipment to ship or receive grain.
• Inspect grain facilities daily for equipment condition.
• Help schedule logistics pertaining to inbound and outbound grain.
• Maintain inventories to maximize profitability; manage grain movements.
• Identify problems and work with manager on solutions.
• Deal with customers daily and assist in safety programs.
• Comply with environmental laws and internal policies.
• Review emergency notification policy at site.
