Job summary

The Scoular Company is seeking a Facility Manager to oversee a large grain facility and related asset-based locations. You will manage daily operations, logistics, safety, quality, and customer relations while coordinating multiple teams.

This role requires strong leadership, inventory and process discipline, and the ability to develop plans that improve efficiency and bottom-line growth across the facility and trade unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience managing or operating a grain elevator, cleaning plant, mill or agricultural commodity processing facility.
• Detailed and process oriented, with demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet scheduled deadlines.
• Ability to analyze and independently solve problems.
• Effective customer service skills and a positive style in business transactions.
• Ability to perform in a high-stress and fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of accounting, financial practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of the agricultural industry’s trading standards and procedures.
• Ability to use commercial travel, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of inventory management, including product segregation, product conditioning, maintaining inventory quality, maximizing mix and blend activities, controlling shrink, ensuring accurate weights and grades on inbound and outbound shipments, and achieving contract specification on all shipments.
• Partner with the business managers, originators and merchants to coordinate all transportation and maintenance needs for the facility to ensure on-time deliveries.
• Provide strong execution focus with increased awareness and understanding of commodity and operational complexity, including shuttle loaders, mix and blend, and related activities.
• Provide strategic plans to Scoular leadership to maintain the facility in industry-competitive performance capability through preventive maintenance programs and capital improvement strategies.
• Responsible for product quality, quantity and inventories, including inbound and outbound product flow.
• Accountable for providing impeccable service to our customers.
• Direct vendors and customers in the daily processes of the property.
• Maintain a basic to intermediate understanding of Merchandising and Accounting.
• Identify and contribute to revenue-generating ideas and activities to grow the bottom line.
• Responsible for planning and execution of operational and merchandising strategies for the facility(s) and trade unit.
