Job summary

United Grain Corporation is seeking a Grain Elevator Assistant Manager I to coordinate day-to-day grain handling operations at our Hettinger facility. You will assist the Elevator Manager in supervising staff, ensuring safety, quality, and timely merchandising activities while maintaining high levels of customer service.

The role requires 2–4 years of elevator operations/leadership experience, a valid driver's license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required; four‑year degree preferred.
• 2–4 years of elevator operations/leadership experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required to operate company vehicles.
• Experience supervising teams and providing leadership is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and grain software such as Agris and One Weigh.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; able to work with diverse staff.
• Ability to read, write, and follow safety instructions and memos.
• Able to make decisions, work independently and be detail oriented.
• Strong English communication with coworkers, supervisors, producers and merchandising staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties safely and in compliance with safety programs.
• Keep work areas and facilities clean and well maintained.
• Provide courteous, responsive customer service at the Elevator.
• Demonstrate teamwork and respectful collaboration.
• Delegate and oversee crew activities with the Elevator Manager.
• Assist with safety meetings and ensure safety regulations are followed.
• Assist grain merchandising for designated location and coordinate with Merchandising team.
• Receive commodities and verify quality to meet standards.
• Manage inventory and account for potential supply chain issues.
• Monitor machinery operation and coordinate repairs; support preventive maintenance.
• Suggest improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and safety.
• Maintain accurate production records and reporting.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
