Job summary

University of Northern Colorado is seeking a Graduate Thesis, Dissertation, and Graduate Faculty Specialist to administer and coordinate graduate admissions, student records, and degree progress. You will format-check theses and dissertations, manage doctoral committee appointments, and ensure compliance with Graduate School policies.

The role supports graduate students and faculty, with responsibilities across formatting reviews, committee scheduling, and mentoring training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; graduate degree preferred.
• Two years of work in an educational environment in administration or technical support, or in teaching. Student worker or GA experience is acceptable.
• Experience writing a dissertation, thesis, journal article, or other published work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on formatting of thesis, scholarly project, and dissertation documents; provide workshops on formatting and using templates.
• Monitor doctoral committee appointments and manage dissertation proposals, committee timing, and exam scheduling.
• Approve and process requests to schedule doctoral exams and ensure policy compliance; coordinate with staff and announce exams.
• Process applications for status types (GL, GF, GF/DRE, GFE, EGF, and EGF/DRE) for graduate courses or doctoral committees; issue appointment or refusal letters as needed.
• Support Graduate School mentoring training and other duties as assigned.
