Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks innovative technical graduates to join the Multi-Domain System Concepts Group in Laurel, MD. You will simulate and analyze defense systems, identify gaps, and develop new concepts to enhance U.S.

capabilities using math, engineering, and physics. Primary work includes modeling real-world and future systems, assessing sensors and communications, and transitioning ideas to fielded capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Mathematics, or similar degrees.
  • Strong programming and analysis skills with math/physics grounding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Must be able to obtain Interim Secret clearance at start and Top Secret eventually; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and assessment of U.S. Defense systems.
  • Model, analyze, and assess fielded systems; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop innovative concepts/algorithms and perform high‑level analyses on future systems.
  • Create presentations communicating technical recommendations to leadership and sponsors.
