You will support a licensed Civil Engineer while learning our standard practices and local codes, focusing on design software, technical calculations, plans, and specifications. This role helps you pursue a Professional Engineering license, requiring organization, self-motivation, and collaboration to solve complex issues on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering or equivalent field of study.
• Engineer-in-Training certification or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work.
• Provides technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities.
• Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations.
• Prepares drawings and visual aids.
• Prepare various exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software.
• Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
• Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
• Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
• Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
• Other duties as assigned
