Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Austin, TX, is seeking a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team.

You will support a licensed Civil Engineer, learn our design practices, and contribute to plans, specifications, and project management tasks on public infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a Professional Engineering license, possess a Bachelor's in civil or environmental engineering, and show strong communication and teamwork skills to deliver quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent field of study, and/or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months
• Willingness to learn and adapt to design software and local agency codes

Responsibilities

• Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work
• Provide technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities
• Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
• Prepare drawings and visual aids
• Prepare exhibits and design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software
• Follow internal QA/QC procedures and engineering standards
• Observe construction activities to learn methods and translate drawings to built products
• Coordinate with agency staff and internal teams on designs, analysis, and issues
• Develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
• Other duties as assigned
