Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Civil Graduate Engineer to join our Transportation team. You will support a licensed Civil Engineer, learn company practices, and develop proficiency in design software while assisting with planning, calculations, and project management tasks.

The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and eager to pursue a Professional Engineering license, with strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with agency staff and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or equivalent, or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
• Engineer-in-Training Certificate or the ability to obtain within 6-12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist project team in design of public infrastructure work
• Provide technical, day-to-day design support to the Project Engineer, including drafting support for plan production activities
• Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, and utility evaluations
• Prepares drawings and visual aids
• Prepare design drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, Bluebeam, MicroStation, Open Roads, HEC RAS, or other related engineering software
• Follow internal QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and best practices
• Observes construction activities and works to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering drawings and specifications into the constructed product
• Works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully to operating systems
• Coordination with agency staff and internal support teams on designs, analysis, and issues
• Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop calculations in Excel, reports and letters in Word, and presentations in PowerPoint
• Other duties as assigned
