Job summary

Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. is seeking a Surveying Intern to support our GPS team in Lawrence, KS. You will work alongside an experienced Surveying Technician, learning construction layout, plan reading and field surveying techniques on active projects.

The role offers on-site collaboration, exposure to GPS machine control, and potential career progression into full-time surveying positions. Strong communication and willingness to train are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with surveying and construction industry; willing to train the right candidate.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying instruments.
• Calibrate sites for GPS rovers and GPS Machine Control.
• Troubleshoot GPS Machine Control.
• Perform construction layout using plans and establish lines and grades.
• Maintain engineering notes and data records.
• Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required.
• Prepare surveying documentation and calculations.
• Coordinate activities with jobsite personnel.
• Demonstrate safety mindset and professional conduct.
