The Director serves as liaison among partners, clients, and staff; leads multiple engagements, plans staffing and workflow, trains staff, and drives new business for the firm while maintaining client relationships and compliance with GAGAS, GAAS, and Uniform Guidance.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting with at least 2 years in a senior manager role.
• Experience with state and local governments and governing bodies (cities, counties, special districts, charter schools, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Holds a current and valid CPA license.
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
• Experience conducting audits in accordance with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.
• Experience auditing not-for-profit organizations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain contact with clients and manage engagements.
• Lead engagements as partner or report directly to the engagement partner.
• Sign attest opinions when acting as engagement partner.
• Oversee engagements to ensure compliance with applicable accounting framework and firm policy.
• Inform partner of developments on client accounts and propose solutions.
• Schedule engagements and manage resources and timing.
• Serve as SME for governmental sector.
• Oversee billing and collections by engagement teams per policy.
• Supervise staff and provide on-the-job training; review work papers.
• Contribute to staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Assist in recruitment and interview processes for Assurance and Advisory roles.
• Lead business development and initial client communications; generate fee estimates.
• Maintain firm-wide policy compliance.
