Job summary

Progressive regonal CPA firm seeks an Audit Director with State and Local Government specialization, offering a fast track to Partnership and a balanced hybrid work life. Relocation assistance is available.

The Director serves as liaison between Partners, clients, and staff, managing multiple engagements, staffing, and engagement workflow while mentoring staff and growing the business. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years in public accounting with a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position.
• Significant experience with state and local governments (cities, counties, etc.).
• CPA licensed and willing to travel to client and firm locations.
• Proven ability to bring in new business for a CPA Firm.
• Experience conducting audits under GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and the Uniform Guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and builds long-term relationships.
• Possesses potential to act as engagement partner or report to the engagement partner.
• Signs attest opinions when assigned as engagement partner.
• Oversees all phases to ensure deliverables comply with GAAP and firm policy.
• Identifies issues and implements solutions after partner consultation.
• Ensures proper engagement scheduling and staffing.
• Acts as SME for governmental sector engagements.
• Monitors billing and collections by engagement teams.
• Supervises staff and conducts on-the-job training.
• Leads staff performance evaluations and reviews.
• Participates in recruiting and interviewing candidates for Assurance/Advisory roles.
• Represents the firm in business development and client meetings.
