What will you do as a Goldsmith at Diamond Cellar?
Goldsmith must exhibit a high level of craftmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both colleagues and customers. This role involves crafting, repairing, and maintaining jewelry pieces to meet our quality standards, supporting sales staff in customer interactions, and ensuring a clean, organized workspace.
- Craft and repair jewelry pieces according to design and customer specifications.
- Perform tasks such as stone setting, advanced fabrication and repair, and other necessary alterations. Focus on accurate completion or setting of higher value diamonds, fragile gemstones, and high liability jobs.
- Work closely with sales staff to understand customer needs and provide technical insights.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and improve processes.
- Ensure all jewelry pieces meet our quality standards before customer delivery.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Regularly inspect tools and equipment for proper functioning.
- Support sales staff in guiding repair conversations with customers.
- Accommodate customer needs with personalized service and modifications.
- Communicate directly with customers to clarify requirements and expectations when needed.
- Keep accurate records of all jewelry repairs and creations.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and tools and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
- Document and report any workshop issues or discrepancies.
- Stay updated with industry trends, techniques, and best practices.
- Seek opportunities for professional development and skills enhancement.
- Be open to learning and always improving.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in jewelry manufacturing and/or repair experience
- High School Diploma
- Proficient in stone setting (prong, bezel, channel, pave), soldering, fabrication, and polishing
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with CAD design and wax carving, a plus
- GIA certification, a plus
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of jewelry manufacturing process and materials
- Organized with strong communication skills
