Job summary

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) seeks a results-driven GME Operations Manager to lead day-to-day administration of Graduate Medical Education programs across the health system and support residency and fellowship activities for trainees and program leadership.

The role emphasizes operational excellence, financial stewardship, process improvement, and accreditation compliance, partnering with Program Directors, HR, IT, Finance, and hospital leadership to ensure efficient GME services and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a healthcare-related field.
• Master’s degree preferred (MHA/MBA/MPH or related).
• Experience in a community teaching hospital or academic healthcare system preferred.
• Familiarity with residency management systems such as MedHub or New Innovations.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of Graduate Medical Education programs across the health system.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, orientation, matriculation, and graduation processes for residents and fellows.
• Supervise GME staff and coordinators; provide coaching and development.
• Develop and optimize operational workflows, policies, and standard work processes.
• Collaborate with HR, IT, Compliance, and other departments to support trainee administration and reporting.
• Maintain residency management systems and trainee records for accurate reporting.
