Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking an energetic General Manager in Training to join our Retail Management team. The role involves overseeing store operations, budgets, and staff while delivering exceptional customer service and upholding our mission of Changing Lives Through the Power of Work.

The position is hourly full-time with a 75% travel requirement and a starting hourly rate of $24.50. Bonus potential up to $250 per month and a comprehensive benefits package are offered to support career

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three years of Retail, Warehouse, or Logistics management experience.
• A Valid MO or IL state driver’s license and insurance are required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills include customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills include quality decision-making, goal-setting, and problem-solving, with the ability to motivate and lead employees and hold them accountable.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to oversee store operations, resources, and budgets to meet goals and benchmarks.
• Model core values to promote safety, ethics, and quality within the store.
• Supervise, direct, and train staff and ensure they perform core functions.
• Provide superior customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate dissatisfaction.
• Coach and counsel employees regarding performance, including discipline up to termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in daily task assignments to meet operational goals.
• Identify employees for advancement based on performance.
• Safeguard company property and report theft or misconduct to management or HR.
• Read, follow, and enforce all agency policies and values.
• Utilize staffing methods to ensure proper coverage; arrange replacements; audit payroll.
• Eliminate wasteful practices through process improvements.
• Maintain professional appearance per dress code.
• Complete Leadership Development Cohort Program.
• Other duties as assigned.
