Job summary

IPG Photonics is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Tax in Marlborough, MA to lead the global tax function. You will oversee federal, state, local, and international tax planning, compliance, and reporting, partnering with Finance, Legal, and Operations to optimize tax outcomes.

The role requires a CPA with 10+ years of progressive tax experience in manufacturing or multinational environments. You will drive transfer pricing, ASC 740 provisions, and tax risk management, while building

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA certification required; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
10+ years of progressive tax experience, including corporate and international leadership.
Experience within manufacturing, technology, or multinational organizations strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and international tax laws and ASC 740.
Experience managing global tax compliance and transfer pricing matters.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead global tax strategy across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions.
Develop tax-efficient structures and planning strategies aligned with business objectives.
Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership regarding tax implications of business decisions, acquisitions, restructures, and international operations.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess organizational impact.
Partner with external advisors, auditors, and legal counsel on complex tax matters.
Oversee preparation and review of all federal, state, local, and international tax filings.
Lead quarterly and annual tax provision processes (ASC 740) and tax disclosures.
Manage tax-related audits, transfer pricing, and intercompany transactions.
Build, mentor, and develop the tax team; drive process improvements.
