Job summary

Fluence seeks a senior supply chain executive based in Houston to lead global direct materials for power conversion, electrical systems, and balance of plant. The VP will drive cost leadership, supplier architecture, and a multiyear strategy to scale spend from today to over $5B while maintaining quality and continuity of supply.

The role reports to the Chief Procurement Officer and demands a builder mindset, cross-functional partnership, and the ability to deliver significant year-over-year

Qualifications

• 15-20+ years in direct materials, category management, strategic sourcing, or supply chain leadership.
• Ownership of at least $500M in annual direct materials spend.
• Experience scaling a portfolio and organization through rapid growth is strongly preferred.
• Verifiable record of sustained year over year cost reduction on a growing spend base.
• Technical depth in power electronics, enclosures and balance of plant, contract manufacturing, and complex electromechanical supply chains.
• Direct experience negotiating and closing complex multiyear Tier 1 agreements.
• Strong financial acumen across TCO, should cost, PPV, and index and FX mechanisms.
• Experience partnering directly with CFO, CPO, and executive leadership.
• MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the direct materials organization to carry the portfolio from current level to >$5B annual spend; own org design and headcount planning.
• Set operating rhythm: governance cadences, category strategy reviews, quarterly business reviews, cost reviews, and standard reporting.
• Establish category KPIs and a single source of truth on contracts, quality, delivery, innovation, sustainability, and risk.
• Build scalable process and systems capability to grow spend faster than headcount.
• Own multiyear category strategy across the portfolio and translate roadmaps into sourcing actions with Eng/Prod/Manufacturing.
• Shape the contract manufacturing footprint strategy, capacity placement, and total landed cost.
• Sponsor the direct materials risk playbook and lead executive supplier reviews and dispute resolution.
