Job summary

SoFi is seeking a Principal Advisor to oversee the Global Sanctions Compliance function, shaping strategy and ongoing direction of our Enterprise Sanctions Program. You will lead initiatives across jurisdictions and business units, leveraging senior government and Tier-1 financial institution experience to advance sanctions governance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a senior policy, enforcement, licensing, or compliance role directly within OFAC.
• 10-15+ years of sanctions experience, including crypto.
• Comprehensive understanding of BaaS products and traditional banking services.
• Lead development and governance of sanctions policies and risk frameworks.
• Direct advisory support to Compliance and Risk Leadership on high-risk matters.
• Excellent communication across all levels and cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership and ability to build cross-functional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Act as Sanctions Program Leader for the SoFi Enterprise.
• Advise Compliance, product managers, engineers, and business units on sanctions.
• Coordinate with AML governance and three lines of defense on sanctions processes.
• Support annual sanctions risk assessments and control implementations.
• Provide guidance to detect and reduce sanctions exposure.
• Develop and review sanctions policies and controls across the enterprise.
• Collaborate with compliance, business, and engineering on sanctions issues.
• Stay updated on sanctions regulations and industry best practices.
• Recommend product updates and processes to strengthen compliance.
• Assist in regulatory exams, audits, and third-party risk reviews.
